1948-2008: 60 years of occupation and refuge
On May 15th, 60 years from the establishment of the state of Israel are completed. At a time when Israel and its patrons organise provocative fiestas, the Palestinian people and the solidarity movements are protesting in order to denounce:
-
The Palestinian Catastrophe (Nakba), namely the deprivation of the 78% of historic Palestine from the people that lived there.
-
The prefixed and cynically executed operation of ethnic cleansing that resulted to more than 750.000 Palestinian refugees.
-
The massive assassinations of civilians by Hagana and by the Zionist clans in Deir Yassin, Lydd, Tantoura and tens of other places.
-
The razing of hundreds of Palestinian villages.
-
The state operation of abolishment of every mark of Palestinian memory from Palestine.
-
The sixty years old apartheid (comparative to the one in South Africa) that the Palestinian citizens of Israel still suffer.
-
The continuous aggression and the conversion of the state terrorism into everyday practice, reaching climax with the wars of ‘56, ‘67, ’82 as well as with the brutal repression of Intifada.
-
The continuous occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.
-
The atrocious siege of Gaza and the disintegration of the West Bank into isolated «Bantustans» under the siege of the Israeli army.
Celebrating the 60 years of Israel means celebrating 60 years of state terrorism, ethnic cleansing and racism. The participation of the Greek government and of Greek artists (like Haroula Alexiou) in events directly or indirectly related to the Israeli celebrations, consist actions of support to the Israeli apartheid.
The Intifada Association calls for participation to the actions organized in Athens by the Palestinian organizations:
Freedom to Palestine!
